Everything you need to know about Broadband Consumer Labels from your friends at CrowdFiber and Pivot.

General Information

Default
What are broadband consumer labels?

Broadband Consumer Labels are informational labels that provide a consumer with a succinct, standardized view of the pricing and terms associated with internet services. These labels were created by an order of the FCC to provide consumers with a means of comparison-shopping service offerings. These labels are styled after the nutrition labels found on consumer food products, and help consumers make informed decisions when subscribing to internet services.

What is the deadline for having broadband consumer labels implemented at my company?

Service providers with 100,001 subscriber lines or more must display these labels no later than April 10, 2024. Service providers with 100,000 or fewer subscriber lines must display these labels no later than October 10, 2024.

What is Point of Sale (PoS)?

The FCC defines “point of sale” as any channel an ISP sells their service through. This includes ISP websites, retail locations, third-party owned retail locations, and over the phone.

CrowdFiber App for Label Creation and Management

Default
How do I get started with the CrowdFiber app?

First, sign up for a new account. Your company only needs one account, and the first person to sign up is the account owner. That person will then be able to invite other users to join them on the account. You do have the ability to create multiple accounts if you’re operating multiple service providers.

Once you’re signed in, you can input your credit card information and start creating labels. Each active label costs $5/month, and each archived label costs $3/month.

After a label is created, you’ll see a preview screen showing you the label output as well as an embeddable widget code that can be placed on your website. Labels can be edited anytime, and a copy of each label is made every time the label is edited.

Labels begin as active labels and can be archived (and unarchived) at any time. You have access to the version history of all active and archived labels. You can also delete labels at any time, but you will no longer have access to the version history of a deleted label.

How do I get the labels onto my website?

Simply copy and paste the embeddable widget created by the app into the markup of a web page. For users of both the CrowdFiber app and CrowdFiber’s demand aggregation software, labels can be displayed simply by adding System Label IDs into CrowdFiber product records.

Why should I use your app when there are free label generators available?

While there are other label generation tools available that will allow you to input your service information and get back the code needed to display the label, our site meets two major needs those tools don’t by giving your labels a permanent home:

Easy change management. Instead of spitting out the raw code needed to display the label, we give you an embeddable widget that can be placed in as many places as you’d like. If you later need to change something on the label, you can simply edit your label here instead of needing to go into the markup of all the pages where your label is displayed. Your changes will take effect everywhere that widget has been embedded.

FCC compliance and version tracking. The FCC requires that service providers must be able to produce within 30 days any label for a service they have sold in the last two years. Our site stores the revision history of every label you make, so you can quickly and easily access past versions of a label if needed. This history is available to you for any label that is active or archived.

I’m a national broadband provider with hundreds of broadband plans. Do you offer enterprise discounts?

Yes, we offer bulk discounts to providers who can meet a minimum number of active labels per month. We also offer white glove support to expedite the label creation and management process. Contact us for a custom package.

I’m a developer interested in integrating your app with our software. Do you partner with other vendors?

Yes, we’d love to work with other software vendors to further streamline the process for consumers and broadband providers. Contact us at [EMAIL].

My company also offers wireless (mobile) plans. Does your platform support wireless labels as well?

Yes it does—[contact us] to learn more.

What’s the difference between an active and archived label?

The difference between an active and archived label is that you have the ability to embed active labels on other pages via the provided widget. Since the FCC requires that service providers must be able to produce any label for a service they have sold in the last two years, archiving a label gives you the option of continuing to store that label and access its revision history at a discounted price. You can move a label between active and archived states at any time. Each active label costs $5/month, while each archived label costs $3/month.

Does the CrowdFiber label service provide the CSV endpoint required by the FCC?

Yes, the service provides the necessary CSV endpoint.

Pivot’s Point of Sale Compliance

Default
Will Pivot help me decide where and how labels should be displayed on our website?

Yes! We are happy to help. We’ll meet with you to determine which page should display labels and provide you with a few options for how they can be displayed. Learn more about website point of sale compliance (link to Pivot’s page).

If Pivot hosts our website and uses CrowdFiber labels, can you implement all of this?

Service providers with 100,001 subscriber lines or more must display these labels no later than April 10, 2024. Service providers with 100,000 or fewer subscriber lines must display these labels no later than October 10, 2024.

If Pivot doesn’t host our website, can you help with label implementation?

Yes! We are happy to help. Learn more about website point of sale compliance (link to Pivot’s page).

Can Pivot help me decide what kind of printed materials I need to have available?

You aren’t required to have hard copy versions of the labels. When consumers/customers visit your retail location, you can share labels by providing access to a computer or providing a QR code for scanning. That said, if you decide it is easiest to provide hardcopy versions of the labels, we are happy to help talk through the options and get something prepared for you that you can print.
